SLS Sports Massage
In the summer of 2021, I teamed up with Sandra from SLS Sports Massage and she has been a great addition to helping me bring focus to clients' wellbeing aswell as their horses. Our daily lives and sometimes very physical jobs, especially if you work with horses, can be very demanding on our bodies and so being able to recommend a local business for my clients' own wellbeing has been invaluable.
Sandra is based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire and can be found on the link below. She is a Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist and can provide you will follow up stretches to get the most from your treatment. Your horse will thank you for taking the time to work on you too.
Often I hear my clients comment that their horse is always stiff on one side, or that their saddle is slipping and there is not an explanation for it. Could it be that the rider's stirrups are uneven due to the rider being uneven? Ensuring that you are straight and strong as a rider will help your horse immensely, not only with the obvious but also with their own muscle build up too. Having a posture check with Sandra will help me understand the needs of your horse more clearly.
Tight hip flexors???
Another area where an improvement in your riding and horse's way of going is ensuring that your hip flexors are loose and flexible. You will be amazed at just how much more your seat will be secure if your legs are not restricted by tight hip flexors. This particular problem is often accompanied by tight hamstrings which can then cause lower back pain therefore creating a roundness through the shoulders. From a dressage and flatwork point of view, a longer, more flexible leg is something that will benefit you and your horse.
